Lady Trojans Advance to District Final
The Varsity Softball Lady Trojans upset Wentzville Timberland 2-0 Thursday in the Class 4 District 9 Semifinals. It took nine innings, but the Lady Trojans beat the Lady Wolves, ranked #10 in the latest Post-Dispatch Poll, on their home diamond to advance to the Championship game at 4 pm today against #2 Ft. Zumwalt West. The Lady Trojans will likely throw Sophomore Liz Grover, who had a .46 ERA through 121.3 innings pitched and has allowed one run in two games thus far in District play.
At the plate, each team features premier players. The Jags' Senior star, Ashley Knehans, batted .483 in the regular season with 43 hits, 29 runs scored and 22 RBIs. Troy's Jackey Branham was second in the GAC South to Knehans with a .453 average, 34 hits and 18 RBIs.
